As things unfold in the Middle East, stories continue to emerge about how women are treated in Egypt and other countries. We hear about female genital mutilation, harassment in public places, unequal pay scales; and many other things. In essence just about every kind of physical, social, emotional, mental, and spiritual abuse now play before our eyes in the news and online. Too often, I think we look at these stories and try to say that we are better off here in the United States, or in other European countries. Sure – I agree – battered women’s shelters, access to self-defense classes, the ability to divorce, and being able to make a living as a single person or parent all make a difference.
But I must continually ask, are we any freer or better off than women we define as existing in oppressive cultures? Are we really any more respected than they are? Unfortunately, I feel the answer is “NO – we are not any better off, nor are we truly respected”. Today, a woman goes out to dinner with a man one, maybe two dates, and the pressure is on for physical intimacy. A woman that does not wear makeup, weigh a certain amount, or “put out” like a trained monkey after a series of protocols is “weird”, a “prude”, or worse.
Who Really Benefits While Women Are Harassed and Humiliated?
And, what about that payscale thing? And what on Earth is such a thing doing in a blog post about “violence” being caused by a lack of”respect”? No matter how many laws are passed, companies always seem to find a way to pay women less for the same kind of work that men do. Even though there is no excuse for feeling a woman up, or making her feel like little more than a life support system for a vagina and breasts, the fact remains that men can, and are pressured by the knowledge that women with equal or better qualifications can take their job away from them. When resentment runs high, respect is difficult if not impossible.
But who really gains from this situation? Do men really get anything out of hitting a woman or seeking to intimidate her for one reason or another? No – I think not – simply because it is not human nature to take joy in suffering and inflicting pain. Do women get anything out of working for lower wages? No – because they must go home to hungry mouths that never have enough, and then deal with some idiot man that resents them for not making enough money. Society? Considering overall misery, global economic failure, and destruction running rampant in every corner – I think it is safe to say that none of us benefit when pay scales are not equal.
Ah – so – then – the only ones that benefit from pay scale inequality are the employers? Remember that economy thing? A business is a consumer of employees – and like any other consumer – they will look for the be$t deal. Yes? It may look that way on the surface. But underneath – again – the answer is no. A woman that must work a full day after being harassed, or afraid of who knows what on the way home is going to have a harder time being productive. Men looking out for their job security are always going to be trying to cover themselves instead of actually doing the job right the first time. Needless to say, emotionally charged work environments also lead to all kinds of problems and loss of productivity.
Back to Violence
To my thinking, no matter where you look in the world, the whole issue of violence – be it human to human, against animals, even against self – all boils down to a lack of something called “respect”, and this often manifests itself in social and financial inequality. But when it comes down to it, we define a need or want – realize that some other living being has what we want – and before you know it – some kind of agenda is set in motion. In some cases, that agenda involves killing or some other kind of violence. At the very least, it involves manipulation, “barter”, or trade.
I could argue that all of these methods are a lack of respect, and they all come down to some lack of self-discipline in order to avoid accepting the lack of some material or other object. It is almost as if somewhere along the line – perhaps when we became hunters - we humans lost self-discipline, and then created all kinds of rules by which we allow ourselves endlessly disturbing frenzies of violence.
What Will Really Make Us all Shiny and Happy?
Are we happy when we manipulate, and do we truly achieve what we want? I think all the people with “heaven on their minds”, 2/3 of the US population on anti-anxiety drugs, millions unable to find jobs, billions starving to death, and rampant warfare – all are a sad testament to the fact that most people are utterly miserable.
I could also say that the vast majority of pursuits that are supposed to make us “happy” boil down to the human desire to regain, or find that sense of discipline – to regain self respect, and also the innate capacity to respect others. We work at jobs in a horrendous rat race to “have a standing in society”, believe in all kinds of gods, demons and spirits so long as they give us “laws to live by”, and of course, we set up governments and armies to create details about when and how we go about respecting each other, as well as when it is “permissible” to disrespect others. No matter whether a society justifies eating meat, executions, letting others starve and go homeless for the sake of money, domestic violence – the underlying lack of respect is the same. In that light, all of the “curative” institutions and systems simply address symptoms without ever hitting the core internal issue.
It makes me wonder if we even know or understand what true respect is outside of money, or “reasons” why we “respect” another person or being. Do we even know what it feels like to look at an animal or a plant as something other than dinner on the run, or a living toy to pet and pamper? Dare we set the animals and each other free from all the contracts and enslavements? Is it possible to live a life like that – or will the loneliness be intolerable? Do we know what it is to look at another human being as something other than a means for providing something we want or need? When did we forget how to build and create for ourselves, to be the focus of our own world?
As soon as some other being has something that we want – invariably – true respect becomes impossible to achieve. It does not matter whether we manipulate by “peaceable” means such as financial ones, or we resort to abusive or criminal tactics. The bottom line is we are all easily deceived, and often believe that there is intrinsic respect in all of these social interactions simply because the “trade” seems fair when transactions are legal and *apparently* “non-violent”.
A woman’s right to be free from harassment in public serves as a perfect case in point when it comes to respect. Consider that a woman that wears something “revealing” is “asking for it”. No matter where you go, even in “unopressive” countries where there are laws against rape and harassment – men will still act like dogs – ie. they will root in the garbage simply because the odds are high they will get away with it.
What does that say about the internal landscape of people involved in these situations? To me, it says the real problem is human to human – there is no respect – no internal guiding force that prevents these actions. From there, we get caught up in a society that is disbalanced – where some choose to be victims (right down to accepting lower pay scales that mark them spiritually/energetically), while others choose to be perpetrators or guardians. Inside – though – I feel none have true respect for themselves or anyone around them.
I can’t honestly say that even I know what respect looks like. I only know that we must learn how to stand together and see through the rhetoric that one society is better than another, and that we must accept all living beings as equal. When it comes to one human to another – that starts with both men and women advocating for equal pay scales. A man can see it as leveling the competition field, and a woman can see it as being set free of the glass ceiling. Today there are endless opportunities to start new businesses – let us start those ventures with equal pay and a fundamental respect for ourselves, each other, and this world. Let us stop relying on laws and others – when we must do the job of turning down unfair offers or demanding better. Let us regain day by day that internal compass – that subtle motion of spirit – that which connects us to God – and from there, know respect for ourselves and for others.

Today’s Quote: Aesop – Any excuse will serve a tyrant.

The sun is shining today, the birds are singing up a storm, and life is good. Despite all that, it is a moody broody day. A perfect day for heavy metal with the sunroof open on I-90. Alone – with nothing but miles of fast traffic, Starbuck’s coffee, and my thoughts.
Next time I decide not to buy a hunky stud V6 with some serious getaway speed, the good Lord had best just shoot me and put me outta my misery. Green is great, but not when the highway calls like the best lover a woman can have. Fast, wild, and dangerous.
At any rate, this morning my thoughts wandered along to a sight from earlier this spring. As with other years, when it rains, sometimes frogs get stuck behind the wood outside my office window. Usually, they either take up residence and keep the bug population under control, or they jump out. So – I figured the latest newbie would figure it out without needing my help right that minute.
Eh – well – he DID seem a bit desperate. Shoulda sent some flags up in my mind. But what do I know?
About an hour later, I heard a rustle of leaves, and took another gander. Froggie was jumping up like his life depended on it, but not getting very far. You see, a garden snake had him by the foot. Froggie gave one last huge leap. Gotta wonder how Snakie held on, with a good 6 inches going straight up with the frog, and then back down. Before long, the soul light passed from Froggie, and his lidless eyes went dark. Sure of his victory, Snakie pulled the corpse beneath the dead leaves, never to see the light of day again.
Back then, I wanted to kill the snake. I don’t really know why it evoked such a feeling. It needed dinner, and Froggie was there (unlike silly humans, snakes don’t usually kill unless they are hungry). Why do I watch robins eat worms every morning, and not feel the same hatred for the birds? Are they not all God’s creatures, each only doing what comes natural to balance the cycle of life? Are they not all sacred just like me, with a date of birth, and date of when they must go back to their maker?
Although I did not dream last night of contemporary forms of ritual human sacrifice (most people refer to it as”the execution of criminals”), I found a new insight into that sight of the frog and the snake. You see, when Froggie was hopping after he got bit – he was already as good as dead. The venom was already doing it’s work, but he didn’t know it. His life at that point was nothing more than a “skip” – or a recording. I believe the proper term for it is a reflex action. The last signal that goes from the brain to the muscles gets repeated over and over again until the final process of death completes.
Ah… but is not life often a case of making the same mistakes over and over again? Different situations where we come to the same answers and must cope with the same outcomes? For some people, a mysterious something comes along nudges us out of the groove. It happens for indivudals, but what about humanity as a whole? When is something going to come along to boot the collective in the butt about global warming, nuclear weapons, air pollution, water pollution, and GMO’s?
Perhaps some snake really and truly did bite the collective 1,000 years after the ascension of Christ.
Are we all just living on those last reflexes – a dieing species on a dieing planet? Do we each belong into one of 3 categeories:
A. Hoping for rescue from some higher power that had better exist if we all got a snowball’s chance of seeing tomorrow?
B. Ruthlessly shutting the truth out with greed, drugs, alcohol and s*x so that we never see death coming?
C. Working like crazy to get away from the snake, and hoping like all getout that the statistically based laws of science will run smack dab into Schroedinger’s Cat?
What is my choice? Well – for me – I’m too math dull for C to be an option. It’s too late in life for me to settle for B. That leaves A.
Eh – ya never know – miracles happen every day. Even Sarah Palin got the drift recently and started on a new way of being and thinking.

Today’s Quote: Achebe, Chinua – Art is man’s constant effort to create for himself a different order of reality from that which is given to him.
6AV7RYE2YUXY
Some would say h**l is the gate to Heaven; or that down is the way to go back up. Not only is this a loss of discernment, it flies against what we think we know about he history of the Gods.
Most faiths say that Heaven was split almost in half. While one half contains the font of creation, the other does not. From a distance, they can both look the same, as both are “light”.
All living things are on a journey from one place to another. As humans, we are given the capacity to see both heavens, and to chart our course according. Perhaps some call this “free will”. When we get halfway through the journey, it is possible to lose the way. If we look back (ex. Lot’s wife in Sodom and Gomorrah), misread a signpost, get sucked into lieing for the sake of some reward, or believe a falsehood – we literally may not know which way is up, let alone how to get to Heaven.
Perhaps the tiniest element/veil/of soul non-degraded – weighing no more than the Feather of Ma’at that enables one to discern with accuracy the way to Heaven. A person has either got it or they don’t. Once it’s gone or stolen, there may not be any getting it back. Nevertheless, people and spirits will say they have it, and seek to fool us into believing it. My take on it – if they had it, they wouldn’t waste their time trying to get us to give them our energy.
To chart a path in this life, it helps to think of Earth as point central, or neutral as a result of balancing opposing elements. Souls come here from both directions to think things out, to act. Life actions determine whether the soul re-orients towards the font of creation, or the one going in the opposite direction. Crime, greed, lies, immorality go the wrong way. Community service, “take what you need and leave the rest” stewardship of the planet (ie. no sport hunting, luxury), and overall will to see the face of God – goes the right way.
We must always be mindful of spirits that want to “help”, and people that want to chain us to some labor or other. Whether they come from above or below – for us – I believe the outcome is the same – energy stolen and nothing returned as good as what we had.
Power games are power games no matter where the people or spirits comes from. We were not meant to form some conglomerate energy. Something coming towards earth may well be descending on its way to something much worse. It may not see until it actually manifests in human form, and learns discernment; or follows laws which can somewhat stand in for the natural Feather of Ma’at, or Grace until something comes along to restore it.
What comes up may be heading in the right direction. Grace – or temporary states of perfection over time can heal a soul enough to bring it up a few levels. From there, it may find its way home by virtue of knowing the symptoms of going the wrong way. That is, if there is any such thing as “intent”.
Either way, soul is the pilot; winged horse the shepherd and the carrier of the heavens. The two heavens can be brought together. Perhaps the whole divide is nothing more than a flaw in our bifrucated brains. We as humans must either heal this aspect or evolve – perhaps a physical brain aspect – the midline of the brain – in order to be able to rejoin the heavens.
God wants His property and His creations back. What we condemn – He may see differently. This alone is enough to indicate death penalty is the mark of pure evil, and thus the reason why such nations that make us of it are doomed destruction. Spirit is not our toilet.
Today, we must all think about how and where we lend our energies.

Today’s Quote: Adams, Henry – No man means all he says, and yet very few say all they mean, for words are slippery, and thought is viscuous.
There are a few websites out there that say the history of winged horses includes ancient roots as a psychopomp. This, in turn is defined as a harbinger of death, or a spirit that walks beside the newly deceased into the realm of spirit. Different cultures use everything from dogs to owls, shamans, and other humans to portray this type of presence.
Oddly enough, in the back of my mind, I’ve always had a naggy, somewhat unnerved feeling that winged horse is tied up to death in some way. Gut instinct always comes back with a resounding “NO!” – there is a mistake somewhere – a lie, a deceit, a theft, something twisted that hides the true nature.
Of course – it’s a bit like that Freud thing – these are scholars interpreting murals and words without ever having lived in the ancient cultures. The people from these cultures can’t very well tap these scholars on the shoulder and correct what may be an erroneus judgement. And, of course, they can only see with their modern mind, as they have no recollection of the winged horse in any other context.
I suppose you could say gotta think like a cro-magnon – back to the times when language was not so fractured. Again – this thing of having to put two pieces together in order to create a whole.
At any rate, I digress.
Winged horse = tree of life (horse ancient association with Demeter variants) = sun disk = winged skull.
They are all the same – they all mean victory over death.
Consider this:
Winged horse to most cultures – regardless of whether they call it a pegasus, wind horse, etc, is thought of as a “victory horse”. Victory over what? Spirit non-degraded has nothing to do with winning/gaining some bauble in the physical world. Victory over self? Again – why bother with such in the long range of things?
Winged horse is also commonly referred to as the carrier of the sun, or the sun horse. AHHH…. from the earliest times – the sun goes down or is defeated, only to come back again the next day. Therefore, the Aten-Ra – the sun disk (winged sun disk also flies above aesclepius) – represents victory over death.
Since the winged horse carries the sun – it the element which actually does not die. It shepherds in the form of a cycle – just like the seasons – perhaps even reincarnation. This would make sense, especially with the deep history of Winged Horse in Hindu, and quite possibly – Harrapan cultures.
Jesus is the good shepherd – He promises victory over death – and He also promises to return.
Winged skulls – skull is bone – or all that is left behind as definitive evidence of one’s existance. So – it is the element of our body that is – again – victory over death. Winged skull, then becomes the shepherd, or the vehicle. It is used in military as “death from above”. While that may be a modern meaning, perhaps the winged skull has been as abused perverted beyond its context – as is the Nazi version of the swastika. We may even learn one day that the Cro-magnons and the earliest shamans had a different view of things.
Another day I will return to this series, and go into more detail about 30,000 year old swastikas, and boxes.

Today’s Quote: Adams, Joey – The difference between playing the stock market and the horses is that one of the horses must win.
Even though it may seem like ancient history, I can well remember being a freshman in college. Chances are, if you think back to those mindlessly wonderful years, you will also remember classes like Psych 101, and so on. Oddly enough, before I ever darkened the doorway on my way into university life, I also spent a lot of time reading Greek literature. Perhaps, then, it should come as no surprise that I never quite forgot about Sigmund Freud and his Psychoanalysis. In particular, all the notions about stuff like Oedipal complexes, and Electra complexes.
What never ceases to amaze me is that just because it was taught in a university, I came out thinking “well – it must be true somewhere out there”. Either I am getting old, senile, or reading too many new age books, but of a sudden, Mr. Freud doesn’t look as much like good science as he used to.
To the point, Freud’s psychobabble goes against the simplest and sanest laws of evolution (IE. a species journey in search of an answer to a particular question). It makes even less sense when you start looking at evidence related to the electrical and hormonal aspects of our bodies work.
Let’s start with evolution. Even though some animals (example male lions) are notorious for killing off cubs when they establish dominance over a new pride, human evolution irrevocably includes social and family unfoldment. To put it simply, what works for lions doesn’t work for humans. For pity sake, if children went around killing one parent and marrying the other, we’d never have got out of the mud puddle, let alone have billions of people running around all over the place. And what a mess it would make in families that have boys and girls of the same age!
Aside from having very little, if any standing from an evolutionary point of view, Freud’s “theory” doesn’t account for other aspects of the human body that have nothing to do with deep, insane rages. The very ideas promoted by Freud may be enough to make us unable to see some aspect of the parent/fetal relationship that may, in fact, be very precious and very beautiful.
Recently, I started reading a book called The Energy Healing Experiments, by Gary Schwartz, PhD. It’s an interesting book, but not one that I really have a lot of time to finish. At any rate, somewhere in this book, Schwartz talks about how the human heart has an enormous electrical field. In fact, the electrical fields of our hearts can extend for miles, and actually interact with the heart fields of other people. While Schwartz mentions that fetuses are engulfed in the heart waves of the mother; the main implications didn’t quite get my attention until now.
Ok – let’s talk about men, women, physical intimacy, and love. Both physical intimacy and love create hormonal changes, as well as heart ones. So – would it be such a strange thing if a developing fetus is influenced by these heart and hormonal changes? Would it be so bizarre for a fetus to “learn” the electrical and hormonal rhythm of love while in the womb? Consider something. A baby must grow up, and then select a mate. There would be plenty of evolutionary value in knowing how to recognize a viable mate. What better model to follow than the electrical and hormonal blueprint of two biologically unrelated people, the ones that led to an individual’s birth and ability to reach maturity?
Is it possible that what Freud calls a “disease” is nothing more than the mental equivalent of baby teeth? Ie. once we are old enough to reproduce, we go and look for a suitable partner, while still having some “memory” of what love and a healthy mating relationship should look like?
There is no question about it, what we human’s don’t understand, we demonize and call ugly as quickly as we can manage. To me – that is what following this idea of Freud’s has done to our understanding of what it is to be a parent, as well as how a child evolves. I mean seriously – who in their right mind can fully devote themselves to a child knowing that some “primal” murderous complex is going on? And in a the same way – how can a young adult see their parents in a respectful way when told they have some hidden mental problem that stem back to a bunch of demented apes?
Ah well – then again – maybe it is easier to accept Freud, rather than understand that we become parents at the spirit level as soon as we meet a future intimate partner. Perhaps that is just too much to bear in a world that cannot accept a fetus is, in fact, a heart, mind, body, and soul from the moment of conception. It should be no wonder, then, that we are driven insane by the Freudian lies, and why we so desperately wait for answers coming out of the scientific laboratories. Would that we could all wake up and begin to realize that neither good science nor good religion currently exist in our little world gone mad.

Today’s Quote: Antoine de Saint-Exupery – “I know but one freedom, and that is the freedom of the mind.”
.
.
Like everyone else, I often find myself wondering WHY humans, this planet, even the entire unvierse exist. I mean – if Creator is perfect, what is the point of creating all of us, and all these other things?
Last winter, when I was doing the research for my chap book, I got to looking at all kinds of cave paintings and scultpures from the stone age. As I looked at the paintings from Lascaux Cave, and other places, I was stunned to see horses, and winged horses. The more I looked, the stranger it seemed – to think of people 30,000 years ago creating works of art. It got to a point I could almost see their faces lit up with that special energy that can only be defined as human intelligence. Yet – those eyes and faces – are forever gone, now just recordings locked away forever in the pages of time.
I have to admit – such thoughts can get downright maudlin. We all live, some have children, and ultimately, we all die. So, what is the point of it all? I know what I get out of it – a chance to run to and fro on this earth, to feel the sun, to laugh, to play, to live.
What does my family get out of it? Well – my ancestors get a person that can go on and create another person – someone to manifest the evidence they once existed here, in this world. So – each of us carries the family light forward, into the pages of time.
What does humanity – or the human consciousness get out of it all? Perhaps the very same thing familys and individuals get – prolonging of survival through various means. Ok – so we all form, create, recombine, and form again – on and on, co-existing with all the other living things in this world.
So – perhaps it can be said for that which is created – the point is go on existing – to survive.
But what does Creator get out of all this? Why does death exist? Why must we “return” to Creator, to “go back where we came from” together with all our life experiences?
A few weeks ago a tenative answer to these never ending questions started taking form as I read a book called Ultimate Journey by Robert Monroe. While I wasn’t especially happy with the style of the book, some of the ideas and experiences were refreshingly accurate and acute. One point in particular caught my attention – the idea that we each posess a gift – or something that we give to creator – perhaps at time of death.
The more I stewed on this one, the more I got to thinking about it in terms of why we “go out” into the world – why we incessantly seem to need to gather experiences and wisdom in order to turn them into ideas and concepts.
Perhaps each one of us – and our families – were created based on a question. We are a potential answer, as is every other thing in creation. What is that question? I do not know – perhaps there is only one, or like quantum physics, infininte, one, and none exist all at the same time.
Whatever that question is, I do know that when we “go home” we supposedly return with all our experiences, and we share all that we have learned in the quest for survival. Our voices relay what worked, and ultimately, what didn’t work. Perhaps the greatest gifts are the experences of joy. Maybe it is as simple as existing “out there” and as a being that is capable of recognizing and gathering up sparks of Creator – the Christ, the Buddha walking hand in hand within. From that perspective – what a strange journey it is, regardless of the question we started out trying to answer.

Today’s Quote: Carnegie, Dale – “If you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy” . .
Over the years, I’ve watched as individuals and the media constantly seek to blame the government for every ailment of society. We don’t feel safe – so we blame “the government” for not catching criminals. We get all kinds of diseases because of poor lifestyle choices, and then blame “the government” for not regulating harmful industries, charlatans, and thieves.
Ok – so whose life is it anyway? Every person is born with a mind, and raised to know right from wrong. So why do we blame “the government” on and on ad nauseum for misuing the power we give them?
Would it not make more sense to simply use the brains, the higher soul, and the common sense we were born with to navigate through life? Isn’t there a better way to raise a family and make a living than contributing to the rat race of conglomerates and power players? I believe there is, and it has to do with returning to core values and self-responsibility.
Ah – but I forgot about POWER.
What is power?
It is a pattern of combined energy that creates the illusion of security, largely because we no longer feel alone. Nevertheless, the minute we sign our energy over to someone else, we become disconnected from the Jesus, the Buddha, the Creator walking within us. Irregardless of how much power we give to others – those people have no true ability to walk with us in the valley of death. Always – that is a road walked alone save for the Creator to whom we must return.
The submission to the illusion of security does not give us the companionship that we seek in the face of that final walk alone. In fact, it denies us the truth of the grace of God that was there all along. And so, as we progress into the illusion, some of our soul separates and burns up on the flames of energy misused. The other part remains incorruptible. It is that part we must expand in order to debunk and neutralize all the horrors that the quest for power and security have wrought in this world.
How does one obtain power over another person?
Well – unfortunately – that can only come with lies and deciet. If people knew the whole truth before giving away their energy – common sense dictates they would never do it. Therefore, any attempt to gain power, must, at some level , be based in a lie. That lie may be caused by a legitimate incompetence to deliver the goods, a willful attempt to deceive, or a change of direction that leads to willful omission. Either way, it is a lie, and it does cause damage to the human consciousness. And, ultimately, that lie will be exposed by the light of truth and vanish just as surely as potential unmanifest.
The bottom line is a “rugged individual”, one that is truly connected to source does not need to rely on others for security; and knows this to be the truth. In most, if not all cases, people seeking power see the fractures in our personality, and exploit them for their own purpose.
As we give away our connection and energy to an assorted bunch of cultural incompetents – our heart, mind, body, and soul suffers the ultimate consequence – disintegration and fracture. At the same time, it stands to reason that people who use our power cannot utilize the energies as efficiently as we do. It was not made for them, therefore it does not belong to them, and it never will! As a result, “they” create all kinds of things that wreak havoc on the environment and human health – or perhaps more bluntly said – the karmic backlash of our own decisions.
Consider that our planet naturally holds nuclear elements. God had more sense than to pile all those atoms up in one place! In fact, many nuclear elements are used to keep internal planetary cycles moving and humming along in a way that is useful. Before we started giving away our power in the name of “defense” and “security”, we humans also had more sense to gather up nuclear atoms. Sometimes I think nuclear missiles, rocket launchers, etc are little more than phallic symbols aimed at the sky in an attempt to show hatred of Creator. Why else would we take so many steps to annihalate others – all who are aspects of our disintegrated selves?
The Quest Power
A person that is integrated mentally, emotionally and spiriutally will not seek to try and “lead” others. In fact, the very act of trying to obtain power is built on making promises that cannot be kept. There is no such thing as a body that can cash every check written on the faith of a promise in exchange for energy. It’s a matter of common sense. God gave us each what we need to take care of ourselves. Why would He even waste time and energy feeding the ego of someone else that lied to gain power? The answer is simple. He doesn’t! And that is why “leaders” always fail.
The very act “leading” is, in and of itself, an attempt to project internal problems on the rest of the world. Since “leaders” cannot control themselves, they inevitably create mayhem out of the energies entrusted to them. Perhaps it can be said that leaders are the most dysfunctional people in our society. Irregardless of the type of group or its focus, it is representative of personal disintegration without the capacity to recognize self in its disjointed forms.
Today, we must all commit to taking responsibility for ourselves. It’s not as complex as making money, but it is as simple as refusing to give energy to anything that hinders our own ability to meet our own needs using the direct channel to Creator that we are all born with.

Today’s Quote: Abbey, Edward – Power is always dangerous. Power attracts the worst and corrupts the best. . .
Over the years, I’ve been known to speak out against the death penalty; and in fact, feel that the entire penal system needs to be reformed. Yet – again and again – I am reminded that there are victims of crimes.
This week, I was revisted with the fact that criminals simply do not get well. As an example, a copyright infrigner will go on being a copyright infringer. A thief or a murder will go on killing and pillaging unless someone stops them.
Ok – fine. I’m cool with that. In fact, when I was growing up, I wanted to be a cop. I ate it, drank it, and dreamed my way to adulthood on the day when I would get to wear that badge. God knows I never thought I’d be sitting here writing a blog, let alone making a living as anything other than some type of law enforcement officer. (Oh – ya…. BTW – definitely liked Ken Wahl as Wiseguy, not to mention Chuck Norris as Walker, Texas Ranger.)
Well – something happenend on the way to heaven. I don’t know how or why; but witnessing the pain felt by the criminal going through the justice system bothered me. Over and over again, this conflict between what the victim must have felt, and the pain of the criminal has played out in my nightmares and random musings. So – in all due respect, I could not sign up for police academy, knowing that I had such a conflict; especially in relation to the death penalty.
Yet, I find myself stewing with rage that comes with having a repeat offender try to steal some of my work; and try to take the bread out of my mouth in the bargain. Needless to say, the person in question is one of the most disgusting liars and thieves running around on the internet.
Ah – the lies. THE LIES.
I tell the truth, and yes – when I tell the truth -I am not shy about it. Can’t help it. Something just gets into me and keeps on going when I am in the presence of a stinking liar! I have been known to walk into a room full of people with contrary opinions based on false information and tell them about it.
Ah – the truth. THE TRUTH!!
I love the truth, yet I feel guilty for watching the pain in inflicts on the liars and criminals. I am an honest person, and I hate liars. Therefore, I hate criminals, since criminals always lie one way or another to justify their actions.
I always knew there was a paradox in my own thinking, but never quite thought about it this way. Now it occurs to me, over the years, I have sought to chain up and shut down the side of me that clamors for the blood of criminals to be spilt without mercy. Such a strange thing.
And then, of course, every now and then I find myself wondering when the magic spark went out of my life. You know what I mean. The day life became a morass of one day after another; just a cycle of work, pay bills, spend time with boyfriend, on and on through the years.
As I sat stewing and festering last night, somehow or other, my thoughts wandered along to Archangel Michael. It ocurred to me – Archangel Michael doesn’t exactly play nice when he’s seriously stompin’ some demon a**. No – in fact – he wields the sword of truth again and again, and then the scales of justice to reduce and drain. If weilding the truth is good enough for Archangel Michael, why shouldn’t it be good enough for me? Why should I feel distressed or bothered by what a criminal feels? It isn’t like I invite people to commit crimes.
I have to wonder if Archangel Michael feels any sympathy for the demons. Does Jesus? What about God?
Ah – well I am none of the above; so there will be no answer this day. Nevertheless, I do feel a bit different today – somehow freer knowing that compassion and letting criminals go free do not need to hand in hand. While I don’t think I will ever support a death penatly, again I am thinking criminals should be locked up in insane asylums for the rest of their lives. That will remove them from society and give them a chance to get good psychiatric care at the same time. Oh – ya – and I won’t have to give a darn about how they feel.

Today’s Quote: Adorno, Theodor – The almost insoluble task is to let neither the power of others, nor our own powerlessness, stupefy us. . .
Over the years, I’ve come to understand that educators use a “tracking system” to classify students. Basically, classrooms and stereotypes of aptitude are used to fit students into basic learning tracks, or levels of information. From there, the teacher will seek to bring each indiviudal to the same level.
As an example, if a person is good in math, but not good in reading, the tracking system will allow a student to pursue some level of advanced math subjects while staying in a less challenging reading environment. At the same time, the entire class will be limited in terms of how far it can progress until the majority of students reach a specific overall level. While this may help students obtain a basic level of education, it also creates boundaries that may cause an enormous amount of trouble later on in life. In particular, a person may not explore their fullest abilities based on their initial aptitudes.
In many ways, our school system attempts to help students “catch up”, rather than help them move ahead in a way that would promote a greater sense of pride and achievement. As a result, millions of dollars are spent on “the basics”, without garnering sufficient value for this money. Typically, art, music, sports, and subjects that require good spatial perception and co-ordination get cut from curriculums because they appear “less important”. Perhaps it should come as no surprise that overall learning in science, reading, law, and math becomes increasingly difficult as one side of the brain is increasingly denied intellectual stimulation.
Unfortunately, by the time children get done with gradeschool, some of the most powerful and creative aspects of each individual are shut down completely, or seriously degraded. Aside from slowing down learning, perhaps this is also part of what drives teens to have all kinds of emotional problems, and a tendency towards experimenting with sex and mind altering drugs. Without a question, our thoughts can alter hormonal balances, as well as chemical pathways through the brain. One would hope that scientists will one day come to understand that the process can go both ways; as well as the social implications of that understanding.
Damage caused by an unbalanced education system cause all kinds of problems later in life. Even a scientist will tell you that blocked creativity hinders the ability to achieve breakthroughs that could alleviate all kinds of suffering and disease. Realizing the fact that we have a bifrucated brain, it never ceases to amaze me that some continue to believe that art, music, crafts, and sports should be eliminated or taken out of the school curriculums.
Perhaps we should look at their view of social order to see how they feel about topics like welfare, national defense, and the environment. It would not surprise me if these same people boast loudly of being taxpayers that help pay for “welfare cases”, “welfare mom’s”, and so on. In a sense, I feel it is a source of pride for them to be able to provide; and also indicates an ego driven need to paint themselves as better than others less fortunate. At the same time, they see no problem with robbing future “welfare cases”, criminals, and lower income citizens of an education system that would have helped them harness and rechannel their creativity in a way that would have led to all kinds of benefit to this society. Then again, perhaps these ego driven “providers ” were also robbed of their creative potential, and their actions are not much more than recorded behavior that goes on propagating the cycle.
Who really knows what a child that liked to draw could have achieved if encouraged during the appropriate learning windows? Perhaps, during the teen years, that same child would have become interested in drawing molecules or cells, and gone on to cure cancer, or find new fuel sources. Instead, as the saying goes, they wind up knocked up, drugged up, and used up. Perhaps even some of our greatest mathematicians have been systematically stamped out by degradation of creative impulses.
I feel the pain caused by this process most certainly reflects in the decline of a society, which then seeks security and empowerment from “social” drugs such as national defense, and welfare programs. In return, the “drug dealers” obtain the right to belittle and control the lives of people they are “protecting”. Unfortunately, once an indiviudal cannot take care of themselves, the entire society becomes weaker. Eventually those that appear stronger become crushed by the weight of their promises and efforts to support so many. Or, perhaps better said, the fatal flaw in communist and socialist systems.
As we embrace this new year, it is time to find answers to each of these problems at the individual level. It it is time to understand that the blankets of “security” are no better than living like an ostrich with its head in the sand. In short, it is time for each person to take back their birthright and live it as was meant to be lived.

Today’s Quote: Adams, Henry – A friend in power is a friend lost . .
(Adapted from journal notes dated 4/4/08.)
In many documented cases of NDE’s, and other near death situations, people report a wide range of observations. Similar to a collision, many people know in that last second that death is imminent. Irregardless of whether time slows down or goes in reverse, many also report the presence of another being.
Who is this other person? Is it some aspect of ourselves? If we meet this soul with anger or hatred, are we, in some way, killing ourselves at the moment of death through the immediate consequences of karmic thought?
There is no question that life events can breed an enormous amount of self-hatred and contempt. And yet, how much of our emotional content is created by others that intend to deceive us? Is the rage that we feel at others, in truth, a rage against ourselves for being fooled? Perhaps that inability to “know better” reflects some sort of fault, or absence in our soul.
So, how do we get around this? Many religions speak of a savior – a presence of pure love that we cannot possibly hate. The Christ? Yes – for some, I believe it is the Christ. For others it may be Buddha, and perhaps so many other names. When we see Jesus/Buddha/Creator walking in us, we see something that is one with us, and yet unique and incapable of self-hate. While we may still die in body upon seeing that ultimate full reflection of what we have made of our lives, perhaps that one tiny spark of divinity rescues some part of us, and lifts it to some other place.

Today’s Quote: Adams, Douglas – In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
